Minister of Transportation Budi Karya Sumadi said that the movement of the sea highway has increased quite significantly in the last 1 month. Based on reports from PT Pelindo II and PT Pelni, sea toll movements were recorded to have increased by up to 70 percent.
"The reports we received from Pelindo II and Pelni show that sea tolls have increased by 70 percent in the past 1 month. In fact, return transportation has increased by 30 percent," said the Minister of Transportation during his visit to Tanjung Priok Nusantara Passenger Terminal, Tuesday (11/5).
He said the increase in this movement contributed to national economic growth, especially in the midst of a pandemic.
"This is very positive, what the President ordered is going well. Even in the January-March period, international movements compared to last year, last year not Covid-19, now has, up 6 percent," he said.
Therefore, the Minister of Transportation requested that logistics services be continuously improved, especially in the middle of the holiday period like today. "We improve services, so that there should be no impression during the holidays if we reduce services," he said.
