Papuans are expected to be able to lead SOEs in the next 20 years

It is hoped that indigenous Papuans will be able to lead state-owned enterprises (BUMN) in the next 20 years. This was conveyed by Vice President Ma'ruf Amin when inaugurating BUMN employees.

"It is not impossible if all the younger siblings who are present at this event, in the next 20 years will become leaders in a number of BUMNs," said Vice President Ma'ruf Amin at the Vice Presidential Palace in Jakarta.

By having outstanding employees from Papua and West Papua in a number of BUMNs, the Vice President said that progress and prosperity for the region would be realized quickly.

"So (they) are able to appear as superior professionals and pioneers for the progress of the Land of Papua and Indonesia through their service," he said.

In his remarks, the Vice President also said that the government continues to recruit the best sons and daughters from Papua as BUMN employees.

In 2019, the number of Papuans who became employees of BUMN was 522 and in 2020 there were 254 people. Now in 2021 the target is to reach 1,000 people.

"And in 2021 the recruitment process is still ongoing until it meets the target of 1,000 people as mandated by the President," he said.
