Many Papuans Support Otsus and DOB

Many of the people and figures who are indigenous Papuans accepted the special autonomy fund policy (autonomy) and the formation of new autonomous regions (DOB).

Only a small proportion reject the program. The son of the legend of the Free Papua fighter Theys Hiyo Eluay, Yanto Eluay said that supporting the DOB and Special Autonomy programs continues with the need for evaluation.

"Otsus and DOB are government programs and there are already working teams in every region in Papua. Our attitude fully supports this program, especially Otsus must be evaluated," said Yanto Eluay in Jayapura City, Papua, Wednesday (3/3/2021).

A number of elements of society who reject the DOB and Otsus Papua, he said, cannot be generalized on behalf of indigenous Papuans. Because it's just a group of people.

"Many Papuan people still support it, because they want to move forward. As with Otsus, many still want to continue in order to be more prosperous," he said.

A youth leader, Ali Kabiay, said that he supports the sustainability of Otsus with a comprehensive evaluation and audit. That way you can see the drawbacks later.

"Each program has an evaluation. Because with that, we will know where the weaknesses and strengths are to be considered for the upcoming special autonomy," he said.

Apart from that, Ali also rejected the construction of the 22-story Papua Governor building in Jayapura City. According to him, the building construction plan was redundant.

"The people are still in trouble, in fact the government is busy trying to build a new building with 22 floors. This is redundant and not urgent yet," he said.
