Victims of KKB in Papua Fall, Komnas HAM Intervenes




The Armed Criminal Group (KKB) killed civilians and burned a school building in Puncak Regency, Papua. The National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM) dispatched a team to help defuse the situation.

KKB burned 12 school rooms in Julukoma Village, Beoga District, Beoga District. The first arson was carried out on Thursday (7/4) in the afternoon at SMA Negeri I Beoga, and the second arson was carried out by the mob on last Sunday (11/4) at SMP Negeri I Beoga. Not only did they burn down the building, they also killed teachers and students.

On Thursday (8/4), an elementary school teacher on behalf of Oktavianus Rayo (43) was shot dead by KKB in Julukoma Village. On Friday (9/4), a junior high school teacher named Yonathan Randen was shot dead by KKB. A motorcycle taxi driver named Udin (41) was shot dead by KKB at Ilaga Market, on Wednesday (14/4). On Thursday (15/4), a high school student in Ilaga was shot dead by KKB.

Komnas HAM intervened

Komnas HAM sent a team to work on the KKB to stop violence. To do this, Komnas HAM coordinates with community leaders where the KKB is located.

"So, let's say that the group that has been the group behind the KKB wants to stop violence. Komnas has always said 'stop this violence'. Because it is detrimental to all parties there," said Komnas HAM Chairman Ahmad Taufan Damanik at his office, Menteng. , Central Jakarta, Saturday (17/4) yesterday.

Teams were also sent to give advice to officers at the location, so that the situation would be safer. Komnas HAM believes that the KKB has spread.

"We have sent a team. Our team has provided an explanation, even provided input to the police there, so that they can take action quickly. Indeed, there have been many such actions, because of what? Because KKB is spreading," said Taufan.
