The Head of the Nemangkawi Public Relations Task Force, Kombes M Iqbal, said that currently conditions in Ilaga District, Puncak Regency, Papua, are gradually recovering after a firefight between the joint TNI-Polri apparatus and the Armed Criminal Group (KKB).
"Conditions are starting to be conducive, this morning at around 10:00 WIT personnel from the Bimas Noken Task Force conducted monitoring at the Ilaga market, and conditions have gradually recovered," Iqbal said, Wednesday, April 28, 2021.
He said, the economic activities of residents in Ilaga Market were starting to normalize. He hopes that a safe and conducive situation can be well maintained.
"Apart from monitoring the Ilaga market, the Task Force also visited the Ilaga Tribe Chief, Mr. Nicolas Syaloom," he said.
He added that Ilaga got heated up after a gun battle between the joint TNI-Polri apparatus and the KKB.
The gunfire resulted in one Brimob personnel Bharada Komang dying and two other personnel experiencing gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, on the KKB side, it was reported that five people were killed.
A firefight took place Tuesday morning, Tuesday, April 27, 2021 around the KKB Lumawi headquarters, Makki Village, Ilaga, Puncak Regency, Papua.
"The TNI-Polri Task Force Nemangkawi is still pursuing this criminal group. There is no place for armed criminal groups in Papua or in all corners of the country," said Iqbal.
