The Papua XX National Sports Week Grand Committee (PB PON) collaborates with the Doha Qatar International doping agency to conduct doping tests for athletes competing in the PON Papua event on October 2-15, 2021.
"For domestic doping agencies, PB PON Papua has also involved the Indonesian Anti-Doping Agency (Ladi)," said PB PON General Secretary Elia Loupatty in Jayapura, Thursday.
He admitted that there were several international doping agencies that had been explored, such as India and Japan.
But these two countries, he continued, are facing a wave of COVID-19 while Japan is concentrating on facing the Tokyo Olympics.
"Yes, the choice was made by the Doha international institution to become a partner in the urine examination of athletes during the XX Papua PON event," said Elia Loupatty.
He acknowledged that the involvement of international doping agencies in the XX Papua PON was a progress made by Papua Province to prevent athletes' doping practices during competitions.
Elia Loupatty said that the standards of the Doha International doping agency were known to be very credible and strict, so that every athlete competing in the XX Papua PON must really be doping free.
"PB PON Papua hopes that athletes in this quadrennial Indonesian sporting event will not use doping and they can perform well without doping," the former assistant Papua Regional Secretary hoped.
Papua Loupatty admitted, currently PB PON Papua is ready to hold a match to host the XX Papua PON although there are still a number of sports venues that are still in progress.
PON XX Papua will compete in 47 sports and will take place in four organizing clusters, namely Jayapura City, Jayaoura Regency, Mimika and Merauke Regency.
