The Papua Provincial Government supports the Special Autonomy Law to be continued for the next twenty years.
However, the discussion is currently being suspended due to the many criticisms from various parties that have been called the "stage" by the Acting Regional Secretary of Papua, Doren Wakerkwa.
"Then where is the formulation of the results? Now how do we want to formulate? There are many stages out there, ”said Doren in a press conference, Monday (1/3/2021).
He stated, starting from academics, students, non-governmental organizations, the MRP to the DPRP discussing Otsus together.
In fact, what he did mention was that the Indonesian Parliament also spoke out regarding the continuation of Otsus and that Doren considered it too excessive.
"Everyone's talking. Do you have? So you're talking, huh? Here the Government, how can the Governor order us to straighten out some articles to be conveyed to Jakarta because outside (only) talk a lot, "explained Doren.
Nevertheless, the Papua Provincial Government supports the implementation of Otsus in the next 20 years, including strongly supporting all forms of policies from the Central Government.
So he also hopes that the central government can support the Papua Provincial Government, including by providing directions if there are allegations of violations.
"The Governor also supports the division of the Regency and the expansion of the province through the applicable mechanism involving the DPRP and MRP," he said.
According to him, the proposal to implement Otsus Plus was carried out several years ago, but at that time it was rejected by the DPR RI through Commission 2. So that currently, according to Doren, at the center only two articles. This article concerns the Special Autonomy budget and others, namely the special article for the New Autonomous Region (DOB).
"Of course there are a few additions. In accordance with the existing situation and conditions, "he explained.
The additions that he meant, such as authority over the sea and forests.
Currently, said Doren, the DPRP has formed a special committee and meetings are being held which will then be proposed to the Papuan People's Assembly (MRP). Furthermore, the MRP will conduct research in the field before being submitted to the center.
It's just that it is now suspended due to a lot of criticism circulating.
"We stop first because of the many stages," he said.
Doren challenged various parties who made a 'stage' to make a written draft as a reference for the Papua Provincial Government regarding the continuation of Otsus.
"Talking on, but where is the result? Nothing got into me. There must be written evidence like this, ”he challenged, lifting the document in his hand.
