PB Esports Indonesia Nets Talented Athletes in Papua PON

The Indonesian Esports Executive Board (PBESI) has made the 2021 National Sports Week (PON), in Papua, a place to attract new talents in the eSports arena.

PON 2021 is also a warm-up arena before sending Indonesian eSports athletes to international championships.

Some time ago the Chairperson of the Central Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), Marciano Norman, revealed his plan to coordinate with various parties, including PBESI, to compete in the electronic sports (eSports) in PON 2021.

PBESI also responds to this and believes that the national multi-branch sports party will be a good place to find young eSports athletes from all over Indonesia.

"In the near future there will be a PON event in Papua, in 2021. This event will be an arena for young people under the auspices of PB Esports Indonesia to show off and make it a warm-up event," said Chairman of PB Esports Indonesia, Bambang Sunarwibowo, through written statement

The warm-up in question is so that PON can become an arena to hone their skills so that Indonesian athletes have good readiness to compete in various international championships.

"This is a benchmark for young people to hone their skills. As we all know, abroad, the quality of eSports athletes is also good, "said Bambang.

Before making PON 2021 a place to hone the abilities of Indonesian eSports athletes, Bambang stated that he would attract eSports seeds by conducting roadshows to a number of regions.

The plan is that PBESI will provide guidance, accommodate all the needs of eSports athletes, starting from resources and others, in order to support their playing abilities.

"Therefore we will look for these seeds to compete in PON 2021 which will be held in Papua. We will build them first. We train it first. We facilitate it in order to support his abilities, "he said.

Previously, Bambang stated that eSports or electronic sports could be a beneficial basis for the Indonesian economy.

In the era of technology 4.0, Bambang believes that eSports can be a new way to earn income.

“Esports is becoming a new style for young people now in their search for income. The impact is not only income, but it will make a turn in the world and national economy, "said Bambang.

Esports has been recognized as a sport by the Ministry of Youth and Sports (Kemenpora) since 2017.

The eSports activities in Indonesia were then covered by the Indonesian Esports Board.

Bambang revealed that the world of eSports proves that the perspective of young people in looking for income does not only have to work in an office.

“Therefore, PB Esports is a forum for young people to become potential and professional gamers. If that's the case, then they will also enjoy the results, "he said.

Bambang admitted that he would help young people in the country through PB Esports, to bring out their best potential.

"We are ready to accommodate them, shelter them to bring out their best potential. I am sure that young people in Indonesia have extraordinary abilities, "he said.
