The Papuan Indonesian Student and Youth Committee together with the Pancasila Youth held a demonstration in front of the Ministry of Home Affairs.
This action is a form of support for the Papuan Special Autonomy Volume to be continued. In the action, it was seen that representatives of Papuan Yogyakarta students, Surabaya students, Central Java students, Malang students, and representatives of Papuan students in study cities were willing to come to Jakarta to participate in the action because the Papua Special Autonomy Volume II was considered very important for the future of education for Papuan generation,
"We are willing to come from out of town to Jakarta with the determination and commitment to continue supporting Otsus Papua," said Marten, one of the students when interviewed.
Law No. 21 of 2021 concerning Special Autonomy for the Papuan People is the answer to Development in the Land of Papua.
Meanwhile, Mega, the action coordinator, said that the role of all parties in improving the welfare of the Papuan people is very much needed. The Otsus scheme is a special privilege for the people of Papua.
"There is nothing wrong with Otsus. What is wrong is a mandate that is sometimes misused," he said.
The action period also conveyed demands to the central government that Otsus Papua be continued, because Papua's Otsus is very important for the improvement of economic welfare, health and education for the Papuan people, and urges the government that Otsus Papua must be monitored and evaluated to prevent misuse of the Papua Special Autonomy budget.
Meanwhile, Emanuel who is also an alumni of Cendrawasih University read out the demands. A similar sentiment was also conveyed by the Deputy Chairperson of the MPN Pemuda Pancasila for East Papua and West Papua Erik Reba who is also a Papuan son, conveyed the same thing when being interviewed, he hoped that the Special Autonomy for Papua and West Papua should also be continued.
The protesters before dispersing were seen handing over demands to the Minister of Home Affairs through representatives of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ottow Awarawi, who met the future in front of the Ministry of Home Affairs office.
