The Jayawijaya Regency Indigenous Peoples Organization (LMA) expressed its support for the extension of Special Autonomy (Otsus) in Papua.
This statement of attitude was conveyed by LMA Jayawijaya after holding a meeting with traditional community leaders from 40 districts in Jayawijaya Regency.
Head of LMA Jayawijaya Regency, Karlos Huby, said that the special autonomy that has been going on since 2001 has not been fully felt by the Papuan people. This can be seen from the many Papuans who live below the poverty line.
For this reason, the Jayawijaya indigenous people have expressed their support for the extension of Otsus with a number of notes, including that it must be closely monitored by the central government.
However, Karlos said, before the Special Autonomy was implemented, his party asked the central government to evaluate the use of special autonomy funds that have been going on for about 20 years in Papua.
LMA Jayawijaya calls on all components of society in Papua to support Special Autonomy volume II so that the Papuan people can be more prosperous.
"Let us together push for Otsus volume II in Papua to be realized. We make sure that this volume II of Special Autonomy is really intended to build the entire Papua community and not just for a group of people, "he said.
