The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua in the near future will soon launch a tough village to anticipate the impact of COVID-19, one of which is in the economic sector.
Acting Regional Secretary (Sekda) for Papua Province, Ridwan Rumasukun, said that in this resilient village program, his party collaborated with the local Regional Police (Polda).
"So, we will use the land or vacant land owned by the Papua Regional Police that is not used for planting and being used as agricultural land," he said.
According to the Regional Secretary, if previously the government provided direct assistance in the form of basic materials to people affected by COVID-19, then assistance or stimulus for MSMEs and so on.
"So the strengthening for the community is now being carried out in the form of assistance in doing business, such as stimulating MSMEs and providing land to be used as agricultural land as well as plantations and livestock," he said.
He explained that in the agreement with the Papua Regional Police, the existence of this tough village would not only be in order to improve the community's economy, but also in integrity.
"This tough village is expected to be tough in several ways, such as integrity, economy, COVID-19 and so on," he said.
He added that this tough village will be formed in each district / city and for the time being that is already running in Keerom and Jayapura Regencies.
