To Serve the Kamoro Lemasko People Buy an Ambulance

The Kamoro Tribal Society (Lemasko) bought an ambulance using funds from the sale of scrap metal from PT Freeport Indonesia.

The ambulance will be used to serve the Kamoro tribe community who inhabit the coast of Mimika Regency.

The ambulance received by Lemasko Chair Gerry Okoware was immediately blessed by the parish priest of St. Stefanus Sempan, Maximus Dora, OFM.

PT Freeport Indonesia representative Richard Kamul appreciated Lemasko for being able to use the used iron grant funds to buy this ambulance.

"Just today the benefits of managing the used iron grant funds from Freeport can be utilized by Lemasko and can provide one of the facilities needed by the Kamoro community," he said during the delivery of an ambulance in Timika, Friday (10/7).

He hoped that in the future all the management carried out could be better and certainly beneficial for the Kamoro community.

Gerry Okoware said that so far there were no facilities that could directly touch and benefit the community because there were obstacles.

This ambulance car, said Gerry, is a wrong form of what was planned by Bamus Lemasko. This is an extraordinary thing for Lemasko because it will be a form of service to the Kamoro community that has been desired but has not been obtained.

"Thank you all, we have been running for six months and I hope this ambulance can be useful for many people," he hoped.

Not only for the Kamoro people, Gerry hopes that this ambulance will also be able to help other tribal communities in Timika.

"This ambulance can also be used immediately and can be felt by the community because today there is our community who died and with this car can bring the deceased to Pomako to return to Kampung Manasari," said Gerry.
