Prevent Covid-19, Asmat Regency Government Establish Monitoring Post |
The Asmat Regency Government, Papua Province has established a monitoring post on Pulau Tiga to monitor outside and enter the community, especially those from and to Timika, the Capital City of Mimika Regency as an effort to prevent and spread COVID-19.
Asmat Regent Elisa Kambu explained that the post was guarded by a joint TNI-Polri apparatus, including the Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP) in turn.
According to him, the establishment of a monitoring post was carried out because of high community activities to the Asmat from Timika or vice versa.
In fact, the Mimika Regency region bordering the Asmat Regency, until now it is still the COVID-19 red zone so the establishment of the monitoring post is expected to break the chain of the spread of the deadly virus.
"Indeed there are currently no Asmat residents who are positive COVID-19, but we continue to ask that the Asmat residents in Timika do not return first, and vice versa," he said.
The Asmat Regent said that from reports received by community activities they continued and they usually chose to travel at night or early morning.
Therefore, he hopes that the community will truly obey the government's recommendations so that they do not go outside the region if it is not very important.
Asmat residents who live in Mimika Regency are quite numerous and they often go to Asmat by motorboat.
Until now the Asmat Regency Government still limits activities, both by air and sea transportation. The trip from Asmat to Timika by motorboat or "speed boat" can be taken in about five hours.
