| The Government of West Papua distributes basic food assistance to residents affected by Corona |
The West Papua Provincial Government is distributing food packages to residents of Sorong Raya to ease their burden during the COVID-19 pandemic.
West Papua Governor Dominggus Mandacan symbolically handed over aid to Sorong City residents to Sorong Mayor Lambert Jitmau and other Sorong Raya regional heads at Domine Eduard Osok Airport.
The West Papua Provincial Government distributed 21,746 food packages, each containing 10 kilograms of rice, one liter of cooking oil, one kilogram of flour, and one kilogram of sugar for residents of Sorong City.
Grocery assistance packages were also given to other Sorong Raya areas such as Sorong Regency (8,757 packages), South Sorong (4,011 packages), Raja Ampat (4,572), Tambrauw (3,463 packages), and Maybrat (2,811 packages).
The provincial government budgeted Rp6,251,012,460 to provide food aid to residents of Sorong Raya. The governor hopes that the food needs will be distributed to residents who truly deserve assistance.
On that occasion, the Governor also asked West Papuans to follow the government's recommendations to prevent transmission of the corona virus that causes COVID-19.
