| Papua Parliament Assists Covid-19 Affected Citizens |
The Papuan Parliament once again held a solidarity action to distribute basic food aid to residents affected by co-19 in the Papua region. In addition to students and citizens who need help, the Papuan Parliament also distributes special assistance for Church servants in Papua.
"The point is that we continue to monitor which groups are currently in need. There is a group that we consider vulnerable, so we channel aid to it, "said Papuan DPR Member Boy Markus Dawir, Friday (4/22).
Some time ago the Papua House of Representatives distributed aid to student groups and now the Papua House of Representatives is targeting religious leaders who have also been affected by the plague.
"Like today we are channeling assistance to the servants of the Church in the area around Lake Sentani. It seems they need help so we distribute it to basic food and basic medicines, "Boy continued.
In addition to channeling aid, the Papua Parliament also conducts socialization so that the community continues to take preventative steps by obeying the government's appeal.
"Moreover, the position of the congregation of course they have a congregation so it is very important we educate through them," he continued.
In Papua, he continued, there were 137 positive cases of co-19, spread across 10 Regencies / Cities, namely Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Merauke, Keerom, Sarmi, Nabire, Jayawijaya, Biak Numfor, Menteng and Bovan Digoel.
"We still ask to be always vigilant. While we pay attention to the needs of the affected community, the government and us at the DPR are also ensuring efforts to prevent and deal with cases that have already taken place, "he concluded.
