Papua Provincial Government Increases Corona Emergency Response Status Until 6 May

The Government of the Papua Province has decided to raise the emergency alert status to be an emergency response to the handling of the corona virus in Papua Province for the next 28 days, starting from April 9, 2020 to May 6, 2020.

This was revealed by the Deputy Governor of Papua, Klemen Tinal together with the Chairperson of the DPRP and the Chairperson of the MRP when leading a special meeting at Lukmen Hall, State Building, Jayapura City on Wednesday (08/04/2020).

The meeting was attended by the Cenderawasih Kasdam, the Papua Deputy Chief of Police, the Kabinda of Papua, the Director of Intelligence, Danlanud and other stakeholders in order to make a joint decision in handling COVID-19 prevention which is considered to be increasing.

The Deputy Governor also revealed several agreed decision points including extending the work and study procedures at home from April 14 to April 23, 2020, except in the fields of health, food, energy, communication, finance, logistics and daily needs.

"We will extend restrictions on the entry and exit of people from and to Papua from April 10 to April 23, 2020 through commercial / chartered flights / shipping including flights in the mountains of Papua. Covid handling 19 is increasingly integrated from April 10 to April 23, extending passenger entry and exit. general except logistics and aircraft crew changes, "he said.

The provincial government also limits food staple shops from 06.00 to 14.00 wit, and closes all types of tourist attractions and entertainment

"Optimizing security and law enforcement, especially in regional patrol service facilities, information to the community to maintain public peace and order," he said.

It will also ease the purchasing power of the community through social assistance programs in the form of cash transfers and food aid for the community, conducting labor-intensive programs such as improvement of drainage infrastructure, sidewalks and others.

"To prevent the lack of purchasing power and the economic crisis in the community. We will ensure the availability of the basic needs of community strategies through excessive restrictions on the purchase of basic needs," he said.

According to the Deputy Governor, this will be forwarded to all mayors and district heads in Papua so they must prepare a COVID-19 prevention budget so that it can be obeyed and implemented.
