The Government and Law Enforcement Officials continue to prioritize persuasive efforts

MPR Chairman Bambang Soesatyo, who is currently in Mimika, asked the government and law enforcement officials to continue to emphasize persuasive efforts to address security problems in Papua. He believes that the KKB members are Indonesian citizens who have the same rights as other citizens.

"What happens these days, it is our children that we need to embrace again, we invite to build Papua together," he said while visiting the Bangkit Papua Stadium, Jayapura, Papua, Tuesday (03/03/2020) then.

According to him, one of the goals of his visit to Papua was to find solutions to security problems caused by the KKB. He ensured that militarism efforts had not yet become an option to resolve these problems.

"Because our goal here is to also want to encourage a permanent (problem) resolution of Papua with an approach to justice, welfare, and culture," Bambang said.

Because lately the intensity of security disturbances carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Papua Province continues to increase. The shooting action took place in several areas, namely in the Districts of Nduga, Intan Jaya, Mimika, Bintang Mountains, and Keerom.

According to Wakapendam XVII / Cenderawasih Letkol Inf. Dax Sianturi, the KKB act has a clear goal, which is to frustrate the two national agendas to be implemented in Papua this year. The agenda is PON and the Papua Regional Election.

He also saw that the KKBs were not yet connected. However, they have a common goal so that some groups take action in a short period of time.

"It seems so, if in my opinion it is not coordinated properly but they have the same goal because there are two important national events in Papua, PON and local elections simultaneously," said Dax, Tuesday (3/3/2020).

Each KKB, continued Dax, had a fairly high ego, so that several cases of shootings in Papua during February 2020, occurred in close proximity.

"Maybe the agenda is to frustrate it (PON and the local election). Not necessarily (between groups) are also coordinated, it could be more on solidarity between groups, so there the sound here sounds. Of course competition between them still exists," he said.

However, Dax admitted that currently between KKBs in the central mountain region of Papua began to reduce their ego and tend to start communicating. This can be seen by the movement of several KKBs to Tembagapura, Mimika Regency. Even the shooting action in the Oksop District, Gunung Bintang Regency, on Monday (2/3/2020), he considered to be carried out by a new group that wanted to show its existence.

"If I see those in the middle mountains, the competition is starting to run out, the one in Oksibil wants to show their existence," Dax said.

TNI / Polri will continue to try to maintain a conducive security situation in Papua. Officials, he said again, will continue to prioritize persuasive efforts and continue to carry out law enforcement to those who commit criminal acts.
