Papua Provincial Government Can Help Funds of Rp 5 Billion to Overcome Corona Outbreak

The Papua Provincial Government, Mimika Regency Government, and the Task Force for the Acceleration of Handling COVID-19 Mimika Regency received financial assistance, masks, personal protective equipment (PPE), and spray machines to deal with the Corona virus outbreak on Cenderawasih Earth. The assistance was provided by the Amungme and Kamoro Community Empowerment Foundation (YPMAK), which is a manager of partnership funds from PT Freeport Indonesia.

"Assistance provided in the form of cash worth Rp 5 billion which will be distributed includes Rp 2 billion to Mimika Regency, Rp 1.5 billion to the Papua Provincial Government, and Rp 1.5 billion to the central government. Cash assistance to the Mimika Regency Government is channeled through bank accounts from each COVID-19 task force in the Mimika area, "said PT Freeport Indonesia Corporate Communication Vice President Riza Pratama in a written statement on Tuesday (3/31/2020).

In addition to cash, YPMAK handed over 100 boxes of masks, 20 sets of biohazard PPE, and 48 units of mist blower spray machines that can be used for spraying disinfectants in indoor and outdoor areas. Also, 250 disinfectants.

"The assistance of PT Freeport Indonesia and YPMAK is given in the form of equipment / equipment needed in the efforts to mitigate and handle COVID-19 in Timika with the value of assistance to be provided reaching a total of more than Rp 5 billion," said Riza.

The handover was carried out in the MPCC building by YPMAK Director, Vebian Magal and PT Freeport Indonesia's Community Health Development Manager, Govert Waramori to the Mimika District Secretary Masthen Paiding, accompanied by the Spokesperson of the local COVID-19 Preventive Prevention Team, Reynold Ubra.

"Freeport through YPMAK supports the prevention of the spread of the COVID-19 virus in Mimika Regency, in collaboration with the Mimika Regency Government, submits this APB assistance for use by medical personnel when handling COVID-19 patients," explained Govert, quoted from a written statement.
