The Head of the Merauke Regency Manpower Office, Keliopas Ndiken, said that by referring to the Decree of the Governor of Papua, the salaries of employees in each company had increased to Rp3.5 million from Rp3,249,000.

"So the UMP (issued) Governor of Papua is the basis for every company to make payments on salaries of employees employed," he said when met by a number of reporters at the Swiss-Belhotel on Wednesday (2/26/2020).

For implementation, according to him, it must be done since January 2020. If the company does not carry out the Papua Governor's Decree to pay employee salaries in accordance with the UMP, of course an inspection will be conducted.

"We certainly see company reports every month regarding employee salaries paid," he said.

Especially monitoring in the field, usually done four times a year. If in the reports and monitoring conducted, UMP payment is not appropriate, the said company will be given strict sanctions.

Recognized in previous years, there have been a number of companies committed violations, because they did not pay the salary of employees according to the specified UMP. However, if there are fundamental reasons, it can still be reconsidered.

Deputy Chairman II of the Merauke Regional Representative Council (DPRD), Dominikus Ulukyanan, some time ago said that each company was required to pay employee salaries according to the UMP issued by the governor.

"Yes, if a company employs employees, it is obligatory to pay what is the employee's right for each month according to the UMP standard," he pleaded.
