Papua Police Chief Inspector General Paulus Waterpauw stressed that the presence of TNI-Polri personnel in Nduga would not be withdrawn due to the presence of armed groups in the area.
The existence of non-organic TNI-Polri personnel in Nduga as a result of the incident that killed 17 employees of PT. Istaka Karya and four other people are still unknown.
The incident that occurred at the end of 2018 was one of the reasons why the government placed non-organic security forces in the area, Papua Police Chief Inspector General of Waterpauw Papua said in Jayapura on Thursday (27/2) quoting Antara.
The existence of the TNI-Polri in Nduga Regency is solely for law enforcement given the existence of armed groups who often attack civilians and TNI-Polri personnel. Law enforcement will continue to be carried out while securing the development carried out in the Nduga region.
