Chairman of the Tabi Tribal Customary Council (DAS), Daniel Toto, revealed that the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, had recently carried out several tasks within the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov). However, in the past few days, the media have reported that there was a request by Lukas' legal team to ask the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to allow his client to seek treatment in Singapore.
Because of this, the former member of the DPRD for Jayapura Regency asked the anti-corruption agency to disclose to the public the results of the examination of Lukas Enembe, which was carried out by a team of independent doctors from the Indonesian Doctors Association (IDI) who accompanied the KPK investigators team at Lukas' residence in Jayapura early last November.
"My message is that the KPK is not selective in the case that happened to the Governor of Papua, even his accomplices within his sphere (Lukas Enembe). If he is sick, it turns out that unlike what we have seen, he has carried out various government activities. Logically, knowingly that the governor is not sick. There should have been a third summons because the person concerned is healthy, because he has carried out government duties," said Daniel.
It is known that a team of KPK investigators, KPK doctors, and an independent IDI doctor examined the Governor of Papua at his residence in Koya Tengah, Jayapura City, Papua, on November 3, 2022. However, the results of these examinations have not been announced to the public, neither the results of Lukas' medical examination. , as well as the results of the investigation by the KPK investigators team against Lukas as a suspect in the alleged bribery and gratuity case related to projects originating from the Papua Province APBD.
According to Daniel, a suspect in a corruption case should be arrested. But he can understand that the KPK did not detain Lukas for health reasons.
“Used for health reasons but it turned out that after some time he was carrying out government activities. That means we say that the person is healthy. Thus, what else is the KPK waiting for, the person is already healthy," added Daniel.
Daniel also said that there are still many corruption cases in Papua that have not been seriously handled by law enforcement. This, according to Daniel, could set a bad precedent, and in fact open up more freedom for regional officials in Papua and their cronies to divert the development budget.
"The Lukas Enembe case is bright in the eyes of the public, even ordinary people know that there really was an act of misuse of regional finances. Where regional finances (supposedly) are used for the benefit of public welfare, but if we observe carefully, regional finances are not used according to their designation," said Daniel.
Daniel asked the Corruption Eradication Commission to be more serious in investigating cases of irregularities in the use of the development budget in the Papua region. Because, continued Daniel, it has become a public discussion that the Papua Special Autonomy (Otsus) program for 20 years (Otsus volume one) has failed. One of the causes is corrupt behavior among local officials who manage the Special Autonomy funds.
“KPK must seriously address this issue. No one is above the law in Indonesia, everyone has the same rights. When it came to the KPK recently, it seems that it has begun to be quiet, we as a society have the question what is happening at the KPK, is the KPK having a cold, "said Daniel.
