Good news also came from eastern Indonesia, namely West Papua Province. Where the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of West Papua managed to suppress the inflation rate to below 5%. With this success, the West Papua Provincial Government received a prize in the form of a regional incentive fund (DID) worth Rp 10.57 billion from the central government.
Acting (Pj) Governor of West Papua, Komjen Pol (Ret.) Paulus Waterpauw expressed his gratitude and gratitude to all relevant parties who have worked together to maintain the inflation rate in his working area.
Paulus Waterpauw said that without hard work and cooperation from all parties, it is impossible to achieve the inflation rate below 5%.
"Praise God, thank you to all parties, especially in West Papua, because for some time, West Papua has been able to maintain the inflation rate below 3%. Today the figure is up 3.04%, but below 5%," said Paulus Waterpauw in his statement, Wednesday (28/9/20200).
He said the West Papua Provincial Government received incentives from the central government through the Ministry of Finance because of its good performance, especially in maintaining the inflation rate.
As for the rewards obtained by the West Provincial Government, said Paulus Waterpauw, in the form of regional incentive funds (DID). "DID is a prize for success in controlling inflation. DID funds for West Papua are worth Rp. 10.57 billion.
Paulus Waterpauw said, with the award from the central government, it would further spur the spirit of regional apparatus organizations (OPD) and all regents and mayors in West Papua to increase development so that economic growth continues to improve in this area.
"We all OPD will continue to unite together to carry out tasks according to existing regulations so that the welfare of the community will increase," explained Paulus Waterpauw.
He said, in terms of budget allocation, it is always adjusted to the needs of the community. "This is very effective, for example with activities that involve young people. This includes increasing MSMEs in collaboration with BI (Bank Indonesia) and all parties. This collaboration is very effective in monitoring the pace of development of basic needs," he said.
The West Papua Provincial Government, he explained, intervened from the start and ultimately reduced the prices of basic commodities and other necessities.
"I think it's a good job. In the future it will be increased continuously to maintain the inflation rate below 5%," he concluded.
