The Papuan Health Office helps 30 liters of malathion medicine to eradicate dengue mosquitoes in Asmat

The Papua Health Service has provided 30 liters of liquid to kill mosquitoes that spread dengue hemorrhagic fever (DHF), namely the Aedes aegypti mosquito in Asmat Regency.

The Head of the Surveillance and Immunization Section of the Health Office Asmat Darsono was contacted in Jayapura on Monday, admitting that the drug received by the Asmat Health Office was malathion.

With the help of Malathion, fogging or fogging will be carried out again.

Indeed, fogging cannot be carried out optimally because supplies are running low and spraying equipment is limited.

The Asmat Health Office also only has two machines for fogging or fogging, said Darsono.

Admittedly, there are currently 80 people affected by DHF spread across three districts, namely Agats District, Jetsy and Suru-suru District.

Currently, three people are being treated at the Agats Hospital, one is being treated at the Timika Hospital and 22 is outpatient.

The increasing number of dengue cases is due to the large number of Aedes aegypti mosquito larvae which are the cause of dengue fever.

"We find it difficult to ask people to throw water in their own reservoirs because it is difficult to get clean water," Darsono admitted.
