The Jayapura City Government, Papua Province, through the Department of Industry, Trade, Cooperatives and local SMEs signed a cooperation or MoU with PT Bank Pembangunan Daerah Papua for administrative control in the traditional markets of Entrop and Tanjung Ria.
Head of the Jayapura City Cooperatives and SME Trade Industry Office Robert Awi in Jayapura, Thursday, said his party made an MoU with Bank Papua to organize administration and sources of retribution revenue in the market.
According to Robert, by collaborating with Bank Papua there is a very significant difference in monthly income.
"Indeed, there is a very significant difference, as before, our income was Rp. 45 million at the Hamadi Traditional Market per month, but after we collaborated, our income reached Rp. 80 million per month," he said.
That way, he hopes that by entering into an MoU with Bank Papua for the management of user fees in the Entrop and Tanjung Ria markets, it will increase the Regional Original Income (PAD) of Jayapura City.
He explained that the reason behind his cooperation with Bank Papua was to prevent illegal levies (extortion) in every traditional market in the region.
"So we hope that through the Quick Response Code (QRIS) program, transactions in the market can be done online so that extortion can be avoided," he said.
He explained that in the future, his party hopes that all transactions in traditional markets can be done online because it will greatly have an impact on increasing the PAD of Jayapura City which is more optimal.
Thus, his party appealed to all traders in traditional markets to open Bank Papua ATMs so that every month the tax retribution was directly debited by Bank Papua.
"So traders in the market do not pay cash to our officers in the field but are debited by Bank Papua," he said.
