PLN Assists Laptops, School Equipment and Renovation of Piers on Messah Island

PT PLN (Persero) supports improving the quality of education and the economy for residents of Messah Island, which is one of the outer islands in Indonesia.

This support is in the form of providing laptops and school equipment to elementary and junior high school students to repairing the dock terminal, damaged gates and waste management.

PLN Regional Business Director for Sulawesi, Maluku, Papua and Nusa Tenggara (Sulmapana), Adi Priyanto explained that one aspect that supports the progress of the nation is the implementation of good education. Good education will be realized with proper infrastructure.

"Through the TJSL program, PLN provides support in the form of laptops and school equipment to elementary and junior high school students under one roof on Messah Island," explained Adi.

Adi added that with this support, some of the students' needs for the smooth running of the school were met. Thus, students can learn better than before.

In addition to providing educational support, PLN has also renovated gates and dock terminals as well as waste management on Messah Island.

The acting head of Pasir Putih Village, Ibrahim Hamso, expressed his gratitude for PLN's concern in repairing the damaged pier terminal. This makes people more comfortable doing activities on the pier.

"PLN's concern is also manifested in repairing the gate, which is very useful for us, so that if there are visitors, the existing gate and gate area are more beautiful to the eye than before because they have been damaged," he said.

He also added his appreciation for the support for school children on Messah Island, so that teaching and learning activities and other school activities can run smoothly and children go to school more comfortably.

Messah Island became one of PLN's showcases with a 100 percent electricity system sourced from new renewable energy (EBT) in the form of a solar power plant (PLTS) visited by delegates at the G20 Summit in Indonesia.

The Messah PLTS with a capacity of 530 kWp has electrified 2,000 residents of remote islands since 2019.
