The Keerom Regency Government (Pemkab) has encouraged the construction of a State Border Post (PLBN) in Waris District to boost the economy in the RI-Papua New Guinea (PNG) border area.
Keerom Regent Piter Gusbager in a press release to Antara in Jayapura, Wednesday, said the Waris PLBN would later become one of the features of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.
"Papua has four areas directly bordering Papua New Guinea, one of which is Keerom Regency," he said.
According to Piter, the four areas are apart from the Skouw PLBN in Jayapura City, then the Sota PLBN in Merauke and then there is the Bintang Mountains located in Oksibil and Keerom Regency in the Waris District.
"So there are still two more cross-border posts so that if all PLBNs have been built, they can also become tourist destinations in the future," he said.
He explained that for that, his party proposed to the central government to establish a National Border Post (PLBN) in Waris District, Keerom Regency, Papua.
"Keerom Regency can position itself as a state page not only for the benefit of Keerom, but also for Indonesia and the community so as to create tourist destinations," he said again.
He added that the development was also very important for security, so knowing the boundaries of the country itself.
"So Keerom is really the front page of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he said again.
