The traditional leader of the Mamta-Tabi region 1 in Jayapura Regency supports the expectations of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, who asked the central government to divide the New Autonomous Region (DOB) into seven according to customary areas.
This was conveyed by the chairman of the Mamta-Tabi Regional 1 Customary Council, Daniel Toto to Tribun-Papua.com, in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Tuesday (21/6/2022).
According to Daniel, the plan to expand the 7 customary territories has been discussed by the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe since 2014.
Meanwhile, the plan for the expansion of the New Autonomous Region (DOB) of Papua into 3 customary areas, namely Papua, South Papua and Central Papua.
"Don't divide into 7 regions, while the financial division is small. It's very unlikely to accelerate development," he explained.
Therefore, what was conveyed by the Governor needed to be supported by sufficient finance.
Still according to Daniel, these new provinces will definitely start from scratch and require considerable financial resources because of the very high level of cost.
Similar support was also conveyed by Ondofolo Kampung Sereh, Yanto Eluay, to Tribun-Papua.com, in Sentani, Jayapura Regency, Papua.
"As a traditional leader, I give respect and appreciation to the Governor of Papua for his support regarding the expansion in Papua to the central government," said Yanto.
Yanto said that what the number one person in Papua did was the right step. According to Yanto, recently Papua has been quite heated because of the pros and cons of the expansion of the New Autonomous Region (DOB).
"With the Governor's policies related to customary areas, it makes our hearts cool," he said.
Not only that, Yanto said the policy given by the Governor of Papua will have a positive impact on the Papuan people.
As a traditional leader in the land of Kenambai-umbai, Yanto hopes that Governor Lukas Enembe will continue to be a blessing to many people through policies that always create peace.
In addition to expressing his appreciation to Governor Lukas Enembe, Yanto said that in the near future his party will also invite leaders from 7 customary regions in Papua to declare a peaceful Papua with the archipelago association.
Previously, the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, met with the Minister of Home Affairs (Mendagri) Tito Karnavian to provide support for the plan for the expansion of the province in Papua.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Home Affairs Office, Central Jakarta. Enembe and Tito Karnavian discussed regional expansion in a limited meeting.
Lukas Enembe said that he had supported the division of Papua since 2014. He proposed that the territory in Papua be divided into seven provinces according to customary territories.
