The Ministry of Social Affairs (Kemensos) distributes bicycle assistance to students in Papua. This effort is considered to save the State Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBN). The distribution of bicycles is carried out by the Ministry of Social Affairs in collaboration with a humanitarian organization, the Human Initiative in the "Bicycle Program for Papua". The assistance was symbolically handed over by the Minister of Social Affairs (Mensos) Tri Rismaharini to the President of the Human Initiative Tomy Hendrajati at the Ministry of Social Affairs Office, Jakarta, Friday (3/6/2022). According to Risma, the bicycles will be given to dozens of children in Sarmi Regency, Papua. "So when I was in Sarmi, Papua, I met the children there. I asked what do you want? A bicycle (answered by the child) because so far they have to walk about 7 km to school. Then, okay! Mama Risma I'll find you a bicycle," said Risma.
Thanks to this collaboration, Risma claimed to be able to save the state budget. Although this assistance can also be met with the APBN, it would be better if the budget could be used for more emergency needs. "Maybe we can also fulfill it through the state budget, but if I can save the state budget, we can use the remaining money for other things, which may be more urgent," he said.
The former mayor of Surabaya said that he had received various offers of collaboration with other humanitarian organizations. Both in the form of cataract surgery to anti-earthquake houses in several areas. "If there is someone who can help, right if we can save our APBN, it will be even better. The APBN can be for others who really need it because in fact it turns out that there are many people who care," he said.
In addition to the bicycle assistance program for Papua, Risma said that her party would also provide shoes and school supplies to children in NTT. "Initially we would help only ask for shoes, but we will help for school equipment, uniform backpacks, sports uniforms. We will also help for computers and we will install them for the network as well," he said.
