The attitude of the Governor of Papua, Lukas Enembe, who rejected the planned expansion of the Papua Province, drew criticism and criticism from Papuan community leaders. His attitude is considered to be condescending to the results of his own leadership as governor and considers Papua's human resources (HR) to be incapable of managing the expansion area.
One of the criticisms came from Papuan observer Agus Kosek. He said that the Papuan people considered Lukas inconsistent. The reason is, Lukas is one of the supporters of the expansion idea who proposed a scheme for the expansion of seven provinces in Papua.
"Lukas Enembe's statement as well as the reason for rejecting the new autonomous region (DOB) was only because he felt that the indigenous Papuans (OAP) did not have the capability and capacity to manage the new province, such as slapping himself in the face," said Agus in a press release received by Kompas.com, Saturday (4/6/2022).
Agus added that during his almost 10 years of leadership as Governor of Papua, Lukas was considered unable to lift and make the Papuan people proud.
According to Agus, as the Governor of Papua, Lukas should not say that the plan to expand the new autonomous regions does not benefit OAP.
"The progress of human resources and the quality of development in an area are also influenced by the role of a governor," said Agus.
Agus assessed that Lukas Enembe has been proud of his program in developing the state civil apparatus (ASN) in Papua, so that they are able to manage development through various training and competency development.
"This should be one of the capitals in welcoming the new Papua New Guinea expansion policy later," he explained.
Even the audience, he said, was surprised by Luke's attitude, which was judged to have turned 180 degrees. The reason is, during the 2013 gubernatorial election (Pilgub) campaign, Lukas raised the issue of division to lure voters who yearn for change in Papua.
Agus added that a number of senior Papuan figures considered that the victory of Lukas and the late Klemen Tinal was the result of a campaign that raised the issue of the division of the province. Both garnered more than 50 percent of the vote from the campaign.
In front of thousands of people who packed the Sinapuk square, Wamena, loudly declared that he was the last Governor of Papua. This statement indirectly confirms that he agrees with the expansion of Papua Province, one of which is the Central Mountains with Wamena as the capital city," Agus continued.
