TNI Soldier and Wife in Papua Killed by KKB Attack, Army Chief of Staff: Chase the Perpetrators Until They Are Found

The Chief of Army Staff (KSAD) General TNI Dudung Abdurachman strongly condemned the shooting of an Army soldier and his wife allegedly carried out by the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) in Yalimo, Papua.

Due to this incident, a soldier named Sertu Eka Andrianto Hasugian and his wife Sri Leatari Indah Putri died.

"Regarding the shooting incident of TNI soldiers in Yalimo Papua, TNI KSAD General Dudung Abdurachman strongly condemns the barbaric acts carried out by the shooters," said Dispenad in a statement received on Thursday (31/3/2022).

Not only that, General Dudung also asked Pangdan XVIi/Cenderawasih Maj. Gen. Teguh Muji Angkasa to pursue the perpetrators. The pursuit must be carried out until the perpetrator is found.

"The Army Chief of Staff ordered the Commander of the XVII/Cenderawasih Regional Military Command to pursue the perpetrators of the shooting until they are found and a legal process is carried out," wrote the Dispenad.
 
Dispenad said Army Chief of Staff General Dudung also expressed his deep condolences for the incident. It is confirmed by Dispenad that the rights of the two deceased and the future of the victim's family will also be considered.

"The Army Chief of Staff offers his deepest condolences to the victim's family and will take care of the rights of the deceased and pay attention to the future of his family," he said.

It was previously reported that a Babinsa at the Yalimo Koramil Post, Sertu Eka Andriyanto, along with his wife who works as a health worker in Elelim, were beaten and shot until they both lost their lives.

The commander of Korem 172/PWY, Brigadier General Izak Pangemanan, said from reports received, an armed group attacked the member and his family who were at their shophouse in Elelim, Papua.

As a result, Supriyanto died on the spot from a gunshot wound, while his wife, Sri Lestari, lost her life from a sharp object wound. Even their partner's son, Elvano Putra (2.5 years old), had two fingers cut off due to being hit by a sharp weapon while in his mother's arms.
