Turlap, Waghfir Deputy Regent Motivates Corn Farmers

The Deputy Regent of Keerom took to the field directly to touch the community by directly helping to harvest corn in Arso II on Tuesday (1/2). This he did nothing but motivate corn farmers in Keerom Regency.

“This is a small corn harvest where the farmers I visited only had four hectares. But I'm interested because Abdul Rohim, the owner of the corn field, has been working in corn for four years and the results are quite good, so it needs to be followed by other people who are not interested in corn," he said.

According to him, farmer Abdul Rohim has been cultivating his own four-hectare corn garden, which is managed once a month on the ground, so that with a four-month corn harvest period, Abdul Rohim is certain that each month he harvests his corn.

“Every month he has planting there is a harvest so it's good to be an example. For each harvest, he can get 4-6 tons and corn at a price of Rp. 5 thousand, so his income is around Rp. 20-30 million per month. Of course, this is gross income, but I think this is promising!” he said.

With an area of four hectares that is managed well, it can support its economy in the midst of a pandemic. So this is what Wabup Kosasih thinks other corn farmers need to emulate.

“I believe in Keerom I believe that at this time the people are enthusiastic. Only the presence of the government adds to the spirit and with our presence we can motivate the community. At the same time, I also listen to the obstacles they face and we'll just have to find a solution later," he concluded.
