On Sunday, February 6, 2022, Binmas Noken personnel carried out the TIFA program in Kampung Maribu Tua, West Sentani by providing assistance to Mama Sorontow who was chopping sago.
This activity is in order to encourage community food security as well as an effort to preserve local culture as well as protect sago forests and sago sago to be processed into local food ingredients, the Police are present to assist and support community activities.
The activity was led by the Head of the Depapre Police Sector Iptu I Made Ambo Arjana, SH., MH with members of the Binmas Noken Jayapura Police.
On the occasion, the Head of the Police Department of the Ministry of Home Affairs said that the assistance was to help increase the productivity of sago processing products and maintain local food security, especially during the current COVID-19 pandemic.
We must be able to take advantage of the existing garden produce and sago is a very good food. Of course, during the current Covid-19 pandemic, we must be able to support food needs.
In addition to providing assistance, the personnel also motivated Mama Sorontow to continue working to maintain the Papuan culture of sago-eating and most importantly, to urge other communities to take part in protecting the sago forest as part of the culture, and even give her love to Mama Sorontow.
