A housewife in Mamba Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tuesday, November 9, 2021 yesterday, was shot by an unknown person. The perpetrator of the shooting of the mother is not yet known and is still being investigated by the security forces.
This incident was confirmed by the Commander of Korem 173/Praja Vira Braja Brigadier General Taufan Gestoro when confirmed via his mobile phone, Wednesday, November 10, 2021.
"It's true that there was a shooting, but to this day we don't know who the perpetrator is. We are still investigating whether it is from KSP or members of the TNI, because disturbances often occur at the scene," said Danrem 173/PVB Brigadier General Taufan Gestoro.
The victim of the housewife, identified as Mama Agustina Undou (21) is a civilian from Dibuga Village. He was traveling by road in the Mamba area to the city with two other mothers, a man and one person were suddenly shot in Mamba Village while on his way back to Dibuga Village.
Danrem said that Agustina Undou had received help at the Sugapa Health Center after being evacuated from the scene with the assistance of the Dandim, but due to limited medical equipment at the Puskesmas, the family will refer Agustina Undou to a hospital in Timika this morning for further treatment.
“The victim's condition is currently stable. In the victim's body, one gunshot wound was found in the hip, penetrating the lower abdomen," he said.
While the security situation in Sugapa Intan Jaya is relatively conducive so far, even the residents who had managed to secure themselves at the Kodim, church and police station have returned to their hometowns since 2 days ago.
Danrem TNI Tufan Gestoro added that the condition of the city of Sugapa has gradually returned to normal, market activities have started to open, and flights have been opened and workers have been active again.
“When this resident left for his village, I distributed chocolate. So there are no more residents who are protecting themselves," said Danrem.
In the past few weeks, Intan Jaya Regency has often been harassed by armed criminal groups, especially in Mamba village.
