KKB Attacks Sugapa Police in Intan Jaya Papua

TNI-Polri personnel once again engaged in gun battle with the armed criminal group (KKB) in Intan Jaya Regency, Papua, Thursday (18/11). The Head of the Nemangkawi Task Force, Brigadier General Ramdani Hidayat, said the KKB carried out the attack precisely at the Sugapa Police Station.

"It is true that there was an attack on the police station in Intan Jaya. The Sugapa Police attacked," said Ramdani.

Ramdani revealed that KKB fired four shots at the Sugapa Police Station. The security forces guarding the location, he continued, had time to fire back.

However, because the distance was quite far, the incident of the shootout lasted only a short time. Ramdani also ensured that there were no casualties or injuries from members of the TNI-Polri or civilians.

"Alhamdulillah, there were no casualties from the community or from the TNI-Polri. As for the KKB, we don't know yet," he explained.

Meanwhile, the spokesman for the West Papua National Liberation Army-Free Papua Organization (TPNPB-OPM), Sebby Sambom, said that his party was again involved in armed contact with the TNI-Polri in Intan Jaya on Thursday (18/11) at around 07.45 WIT. Sebby said, based on the report of the TPNPB Operations Commander Kodap 8 Intan Jaya Undius Kogeya, his party managed to shoot five members of the TNI-Polri.

"In this gun battle, we TPNPB managed to shoot five members of the terrorist forces, namely TNI-POLRI, four were killed and one was injured. And the TPNPB Kodap 8 Intan Jaya has not been injured," said Sebby in a press release received in Jakarta.

Sebby also asked the civil society to immediately vacate the Intan Jaya area. He conveyed this warning because the TPNPB-OPM troops had declared the start of war against the TNI-Polri.

In addition, Sebby said, the Regent of Intan Jaya, Natalis Tabuni, had also asked the TPNPB-OPM to stop the war. He even claimed that Natalis wanted to give Rp 1.6 billion to TPNPB-OPM to make peace and stop the war.

However, Sebby admitted that the TPNPB-OPM leadership rejected the offer of money. Because, according to him, his party carried out the attack not to get money, but to demand independence for Papua.

"We refuse, because I am not fighting for money and projects, but we are fighting with only one demand, namely a war to demand the political right of independence for the Papuan Nation from Indonesian colonialism," said Sebby.

"We, the young generation of 36 war leaders now will not stop or give up. And will continue with the war for the National Liberation of the Papuan nation," he added.
