Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture: Campuses must be involved in advancing Papua

The Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK) Muhadjir Effendy explained that the government has sought various policies and programs to improve the welfare of the Papuan people.

However, to achieve this goal is not only the task of the government alone. However, it requires pentahelix collaboration consisting of the government, the private sector, universities, civil society, and the mass media.

"Without the support from the campus, from the community, the private sector, of course the programs that we are doing will not be able to run as expected. That's why we need pentahelix," he said during a working visit at Cenderawasih University, Jayapura City, Papua. , on Friday (12/11).

On the occasion, the Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharani, Chancellor of Cenderawasih University Apolo Safanpo, and Director of Sales Telkomsel Adwinahyu Basuki Sigit were also present.

Furthermore, Coordinating Minister Muhadjir stated that the role of universities is the most vital to support various policy programs that have been launched by the government to improve the welfare of the Papuan people.

According to him, university students with their knowledge must be applied directly to the community. This is also in accordance with the Merdeka Campus program from the Ministry of Education and Culture, as well as community service through the Real Work Lecture (KKN) program.

"I think this is very beneficial for universities. Because there is a door to establish relationships with the community, for students to practice in the real world and face real challenges," he said.

Muhadjir asked the Chancellor of Cenderawasih University Apolo Safanpo to increase the number of students who are involved in social programs in the community. He believes that Papua will progress if universities are actively involved in development.

"Without the involvement of universities, it is impossible for Papua to progress. Therefore, we ask students to continue to move in the community," he said.

"My message to the Cenderawasih University students is to continue learning. Learning is not only on campus, but learning in the community. Papua will progress if you all work hard to advance Papua," said the Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture.

On the same occasion, Minister of Social Affairs Tri Rismaharani explained, the Ministry of Social Affairs has launched programs for the welfare of the Papuan people. Among them are through entrepreneurship training such as sewing training, making handicrafts, training for animal husbandry, farming, and others.
