Vice President Ma'ruf Amin asked the Provincial Government (Pemprov) of Papua and the Provincial Government of West Papua to accelerate development, so that indigenous Papuans (OAP) can enjoy the results.
"In the context of efforts to accelerate the development of West Papua, it is hoped that it must provide clear, tangible changes and the results are truly felt, the benefits are enjoyed, especially for indigenous Papuans (OAP), as a commitment of the Government," said the Vice President in Manokwari, West Papua. , as stated in a statement from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Vice President's Secretariat (BPMI Setwapres), Thursday.
The central government, through the Ministry of National Development Planning/National Development Planning Agency (PPN/Bappenas) has drawn up a development acceleration strategy complemented by an action plan for 2021-2024, said the vice president.
"This is in the context of poverty alleviation, basic needs, as well as in the context of accelerating welfare development, also called the quick win program, so it is an acceleration program so that the results can be immediately felt by the Papuan people," he explained.
Vice President Ma'ruf, Thursday, chaired a coordination meeting (rakor) with the ranks of the West Papua Provincial Government at the West Papua Governor's Office. The meeting aims to discuss the acceleration of development and the resolution of extreme poverty in the area.
“This meeting is a coordination meeting to discuss the implementation of Inpres (Presidential Instruction) Number 9 of 2020, then also relates to Law Number 2 of 2021 concerning the Second Amendment to Law Number 21 of 2001 concerning Special Autonomy for the Provinces of Papua and West Papua; and at the same time discuss the handling of extreme poverty,” he said.
In the coordination meeting, the Vice President asked all levels of the West Papua Provincial Government to submit proposals and dialogue with the central government to accelerate development in West Papua Province.
"This is a follow-up meeting rather than a meeting at the Vice President's Office to obtain some kind of input and dialogue between the Government and all levels of society in West Papua," he said.
