The Covid-19 Handling Task Force (Satgas) introduced a bubble system to reduce the risk of Covid-19 transmission during the XX National Sports Week (PON) in Papua. With this system, people who are involved in PON events can only carry out activities at predetermined locations.
Government Spokesperson for Handling Covid-19 and Ambassador for New Habits Adaptation Reisa Broto Asmoro explained that athletes, officials, committees, and the media in a bubble have been identified and limited in number. They are not allowed to carry out activities outside the predetermined activity plan.
"It is certain that every participant in the bubble will not have direct contact with people outside the bubble area. All trips that use transportation have also been prepared by the organizers of the committee inside the bubble area," Reisa said at a press conference, Friday (24/9).
Reisa said, the Behavior Change Division of the Covid-19 Handling Task Force also collaborated with sports health doctors, academics, representatives, ministries, related institutions. The collaboration was carried out by compiling a book of recommendations for health protocols to prevent transmission of Covid 19 in the implementation of XX PON.
He emphasized that the implementation of health protocols in a disciplined and consistent manner is the key so that the implementation of the XX Papua PON can run safely, healthily, and free of Covid-19 transmission. "This good practice has been used in several international sporting events, the success of PON XX means a lot to Indonesia," he said.
In addition to the bubble system, efforts to prevent the spread of Covid-19 are also carried out by utilizing the PeduliLindung application. The application must even be used by participants when they depart for Papua. PB PON XX Papua stated that the use of the PeduliLindung application would be the mainstay of the organizers during the agenda.
Secretary for Health and Doping PB PON XX Papua, Ellianus Tabuni, said that organizing activities during the pandemic needed a good system so that the spread of Covid-19 could be controlled optimally. For this reason, PB PON cooperates with the government to synchronize data in the PeduliLindung application with the application made by PB PON.
According to Ellianus, the use of the PeduliLindung application can help the committee to find out their travel history, Covid-19 test results, and the vaccination status of the people involved during the event. "We are very grateful and feel helped by the use of the PeduliLindung application in the implementation of the XX Papua PON," said Ellianus, Friday (9/24).
The government has recently intensified the use of the PeduliLindung application as a form of digitizing the process and screening. People who want to enter various public places must use the application and scan the barcode at the entrance.
The PeduliLindung application detects the health status of its users based on four color criteria, namely green labels (completely vaccinated), yellow (first dose of vaccination), red (not vaccinated), and black (positive for Covid-19 or history of close contact). Users with red and black labels are prohibited from entering public places that have implemented screening using PeduliLindung. This application is also used in League 1 and League 2 competition events.
The use of the PeduliLindugi application in the Papua PON event is expected to prevent the transmission of Covid-19. "We can monitor and find out health information related to Covid-19 from the people involved," said Ellianus.
The use of the PeduliLindung application requires the availability of a mobile telecommunications network. Minister of Communication and Information Johnny G Plate on Thursday (23/9) ensured that all PON locations and arenas were supported by 4G networks. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics has also built an underwater fiber optic cable in Jayapura.
Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Gatot S Dewa Broto, emphasized that prokes are mandatory during PON. The Ministry of Youth and Sports together with the Ministry of Health and the Covid-19 Task Force continue to coordinate in monitoring the implementation of the health program.
"We will supervise it so that it is in accordance with the targets and expectations of the President who wants PON to be successful. The word success means one of the health protocols," said Gatot.
The Covid-19 Handling Task Force asked the public to learn from Japan's experience when holding the Tokyo Olympics in the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic. The appeal was conveyed in connection with the holding of two major activities. Apart from PON Papua, League 1 and League 2 football competitions are currently being held.
Spokesman for the Covid-19 Handling Task Force, Wiku Adisasmito, said that the 2020 Tokyo Olympics had implemented strict procedures in every match. However, outside of the Olympics, people ignore the prokes.
"People are even ignorant of holding gatherings and watching together when the Olympics prokes have been carried out well," said Wiku.
Wiku also warned the committee to comply with the guidelines for organizing large activities that the Covid-19 Handling Task Force had made. Prior to the event, said Wiku, the guideline that must be followed is to provide adequate health education for all participants.
The committee must also prepare an anticipatory plan if there are participants who are infected with Covid-19, which is to isolate them to a special quarantine place that has been provided.
In addition, organizers are required to ensure that facilities and infrastructure support the implementation of health protocols, such as the layout of the event supporting a minimum distance of 1.5 meters. The second thing that must be considered is when the event takes place.
He asked that there be a health screening before the event took place. "Then immediately refer positive cases detected during the event for isolation and treatment," said Wiku.
Meanwhile, the third guideline relates to after the event takes place. If there are participants who are detected positive for Covid-19, they are prohibited from returning to their area of origin.
