The Papua Provincial Health Office claims that vaccination coverage in Merauke Regency and Jayapura City has reached 50 percent of the target number.
Merauke Regency and Jayapura City are two of the four clusters organizing the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) 2021.
Head of Disease Prevention and Control Division of the Papua Provincial Health Office Aaron Rumainum said the data was taken on Friday (3/9/2021).
"Vaccination coverage in Merauke Regency has reached 53.9 percent, while in Jayapura City it has reached 50.8 percent," said Aaron in Jayapura, as quoted by Antara, Sunday (5/9/2021).
According to Aaron, the other two PON organizing clusters, namely Jayapura Regency, only reached 47.8 percent and Mimika Regency 49.9 percent.
Meanwhile, Keerom Regency as a buffer zone for PON has only reached 33.5 percent of the total Covid-19 vaccination target.
"To achieve herd immunity until the end of September in the four clusters, the speed of injections per day for one month is required," he said.
Aaron detailed that it took 5,202 doses of Covid-19 vaccine to be injected per day to achieve herd immunity in Jayapura in one month.
Meanwhile, in Merauke it took 2,575 doses per day, in Jayapura Regency 2,121 doses, 3,962 doses in Mimika, and 1,039 doses in Keerom.
"While other districts in Papua, apart from Keerom, there are also two areas where vaccination coverage is at 31 to 40 percent, including Biak Numfor and Boven Digoel," explained Aaron.
Aaron said that the Covid-19 vaccinations in Nabire, Mappi and Sarmi districts had only reached 31-30 percent of the total target.
"The lowest vaccination coverage is in four regions, namely Mamberamo Raya, Jayawijaya, Waropen, and Bintang Mountains, which are below 10 percent, while Asmat, Yapen and Supiori districts are at 11 to 20 percent," said Aaron.
