Craft business actors welcome the implementation of PON Papua

A head crown craft business actor, Salmon Pitowen, admitted that he welcomed the implementation of the 2021 Papua National Sports Week or PON XX, because it had a positive impact on the handicraft business.

"I am very happy that PON is being held in Papua, especially in Jayapura City, because many people will come to watch," said Pitowen at the Jayapura Mayor's Office after receiving assistance for raw materials and work equipment from the Jayapura City Dekranasda, Friday (13/9/2021). .

Pitowen, who has been in the crowning business for 30 years, admitted that this four-year event made craftsmen happy and excited to produce handicrafts.

“One day I can produce 20 crowns. In a day at most it can sell 3. If possible, during PON later, you can sell as much as possible, “said Pitowe.

Pitowen said the existence of PON, especially in the capital city of Papua Province, could increase their income while increasing the family's economy to meet their daily needs.

"If the raw materials are not difficult. The ingredients are readily available and easy to find. The price of raw materials is also not too expensive. The price of one crown varies from Rp. 100 thousand, "said Pitowen.

The chairman of the Regional National Crafts Council (Dekranasda) of Jayapura City, Kristhina Mano, said that handicraft business players should not become spectators but take advantage of the PON implementation as an opportunity to boost the economy.

“PON is the most appropriate moment to present the results of business crafts for the public to buy. Making quality souvenirs and the price is affordable (cheap) so that they can be sold," said Mano.

Mano added, the key to the success of an entrepreneur is that he responds to success because he is diligent and diligent in working and producing quality products.

"We can't get up and be successful if we don't want to try. Must try to improve the economy. If given assistance, business actors must be grateful and develop the assistance provided. Persevere, be diligent, and don't be lazy. That alone is the key to success,” said Mano.

Mano hopes that handicraft businesses, including noken craftsmen, batik, and other handicraft souvenirs, will succeed in the implementation of PON, including maintaining the cleanliness of the business premises, not littering, and maintaining security.
