The Ministry of Transportation Integrates Port and Airport Roads to Optimize the Sea Toll Program

The Ministry of Transportation will integrate transportation routes at a number of ports to encourage the sea highway program. This is done so that access from the port to the airport or other land routes is easier for logistics distribution.

"Currently the Ministry of Transportation is making a breakthrough. Sea toll cargo is connected to the land side to the airport," said Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi in Jakarta.

The integration of ports and airports is carried out by the Ministry of Transportation in Papua and West Papua. This method is done so that the distribution of logistics for the basic integrity of the community in the mountains can be accepted more quickly. Because logistics from the port directly use air transportation to mountainous areas.

"So the logistics in Papua are distributed by air bridges for mountainous communities. So people there can order directly from Surabaya and can be received in mountainous areas quickly," he said.

So that in the end, basic necessities do not experience a high price comparison between the western and eastern regions of Indonesia. "It is hoped that this item will not be too far from the prices in Surabaya," he said.

On the other hand, Budi Karya wants regional heads to be able to send their regional superior commodities through the logistics transportation. Moreover, currently there are 21 containers of logistics shipments to Papua and West Papua. Consists of 20 containers containing rice and 1 container containing soy sauce. After that 11 containers brought logistics to Merauke.

"This shows that the sea toll road is an extraordinary achievement for the operation of the new port in Jaya Pura," he said.
