A joint TNI-Polri task force engaged in a shootout with Papuan armed criminal group (KKB) terrorists led by Tendius Gwijangge in Kali EI, Mosom Dua Village, Seradala District, Yahukimo Regency, Papua. A member of the Task Force was injured.
"The member who was injured by the gunfire was Kenny Carlos Julian Kipuw (27). He suffered a gunshot wound to the lower abdomen," said Head of Public Relations of the Papua Police, Kombes Ahmad Musthofa Kamal, to reporters in Jayapura, Sunday (11/7/2021).
This shootout occurred when a 12-person Gakkum Task Force team led by Iptu Budi Basrah moved from the Yahukimo Police to investigate the existence of an armed criminal group in Kali EI, Mosom Dua Village, Serada District, Yahukimo Regency, Friday (9/7) afternoon. Then, on Saturday (10/7), at 19.00 WIT, while at the El River, the joint personnel received gunfire from the KKB. The Task Force team then returned fire.
"After the incident, the Yahukimo Police personnel received information via telephone from the Head of the Nemangkawi Ops Task Force that there had been a shootout between the Task Force Team and the KKB in Kali EI and there was 1 person with gunshot wounds from the personnel," he said
After that, the Head of the Yahukimo Police, AKBP Deni Herdiana, added joint personnel from the Yahukimo Police and Brimob Den A, the pioneer of the Yahukimo Police BKO, to Kali El to pursue the KKB member. Meanwhile, the injured were evacuated to Jayapura this morning.
"The victim along with 2 members and 1 nurse arrived at Adven Doyo Airport, Sentani, Jayapura Regency, and were then taken to Bhayangkara Hospital for treatment," he added.
Kamal said the alleged perpetrator was a KKB led by Tendius Gwijangge.
"Currently joint personnel are still conducting investigations and pursuit of armed criminal groups," he said.
