Five members of the Armed Criminal Group (KKB) who were secured in Sinak, Puncak Regency, are still being questioned in Timika. The Papuan Police are investigating the roles of the five.
"There are five KKB members who were secured in Sinak by members of the TNI and are now in Timika for further investigation," said Papuan Police Chief Inspector General Mathius Fakhiri in Jayapura, Thursday (15/7/2021).
The Papuan police chief said the five KKB terrorists were scheduled to be investigated further to ascertain whether they were involved in a number of acts of armed violence or not.
The five people will be taken to Jayapura for intensive examination. This also makes it easier for investigators to match the data they have given that there are so many cases of shootings and mistreatment that have killed civilians in mountainous areas.
"Usually after they commit a crime, they immediately flee to various places or areas around it. The five members of the KKB who were arrested were not included in the wanted list (DPO) from the police," said the Kapolda.
The Regional Police Chief admitted that even though he was not included in the DPO, it was possible that it was related to other cases. That is what the police will investigate, whether there is a connection with them or not.
"I have not received a report whether they have arrived in Jayapura or not because the case is handled by the General Crime Directorate of the Papua Police," said the Kapolda.
