With Otsus, Papuan people are more secure

Law No. 21 of 2001 concerning Special Autonomy for the Papua Region aims to improve the welfare of the Papuan people and increase development from all sectors, especially for the improvement of Human Resources (HR) and Natural Resources (SDA) in Papua.

Head of Village Disi Kab. Manokwari, Obeth Ib said that the Special Autonomy funds that had been given were aimed at boosting the economy of indigenous Papuans and improving community service infrastructure gradually and thoroughly.

“The Papuan people still need Otsus. For approximately 20 years, we have seen many positive changes for the basic welfare of the community,” he said.

He hopes that with the continuation of Otsus Volume 2, the government can focus more on development in rural areas by increasing the amount of financial assistance to the community as well as public service assistance in the health and education sectors.
