The polemic between the Papua PON Grand Committee (PB) and the PON Sub-PB in the four regencies/cities that will be the location of the event has finally begun to be resolved.
At least now for Sub PB PON Jayapura City, the budget problem that had been questioned has been resolved.
PB PON Papua finally agreed to disburse a budget for the implementation of PON for Sub PN PON Jayapura City of Rp 108 billion.
"We handed over Rp 108 billion and they will do what they need to do, there are activities that have been carried out by them, but what they have not done yet," said the Daily Chair of PB PON Papua, Yunus Wonda, in Jayapura, Friday (11 /6/2021) night.
He hopes that after this all preparations for the implementation of the PON in Jayapura City can be maximized.
In addition, the promotion of the implementation of the XX 2021 Papua PON, it is hoped, can also be carried out by the PON Sub-PB.
"Essentially, with us submitting this, it is certain that the mayor with all his authority can carry out the PON celebration, both by mobilizing all stakeholders and economic growth in the region," he said.
Yunus admitted, after this PB PON still had to coordinate with Sub PB PON Mimika, Jayapura and Merauke.
"The most sports branches are in the city, there are 22 branches and have a big enough responsibility so that the (budget) is Rp 108 billion. Then the Jayapura district, meaning the sports also follow in number and we can't go beyond the city because the city has a big responsibility " said Yunus.
Meanwhile, the Mayor of Jayapura, Benhur Tommy Mano, stated that the City of Jayapura was ready from the start to make the PON successful, but good communication between stakeholders was needed.
With the agreed budget value, Mano hopes that other regional heads can follow suit.
"I also ask for the support of my friends, the Regents of Mimika, Jayapura and Merauke, let's accept each other, don't compare budgets but how can this PON be successful," said Mano.
For the use of the budget, Mano ensured that the Sub-PB PON of Jayapura City would involve the Jayapura Police and the Jayapura District Attorney so that its use could be right on target.
The implementation of PON XX 2021 is planned to take place on October 2-15 2021 in Jayapura City, Jayapura Regency, Mimika, and Merauke.
There will be 37 sports and 10 exhibition branches that will be competed in XX PON.
In the preparation process, Jayapura Mayor Benhur Tommy Mano and Mimika Regent, Eltinus Omaleng had stated that they would reject the implementation of PON in their respective regions because there was no budget transparency from PB PON Papua.
