Polri guarantees security to members of the armed criminal group (KKB) Papua who surrendered and pledged allegiance to the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI).
Most recently, there were three members of the Papuan KKB who surrendered. They pledged allegiance to the Republic of Indonesia.
"We must, as Indonesian citizens (WNI), have to take care of him as well. It may be a threat from his group who felt that he did not like him surrendering himself," said Head of the General Information Section (Kabagpenum) of the National Police, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan.
The provision of security is also a form of monitoring of the pledge of allegiance to the Unitary Republic of Indonesia that he has made. The reason is, said Ramadhan, it is not impossible that the KKB that has surrendered itself defected again or did other illegal things.
"We do not just believe it. We will continue to carry out security and supervision of those concerned. We must also remain vigilant," he said.
However, investigations and legal proceedings against suspected criminal violations will still be investigated even though KKB members have surrendered.
The police will carry out a series of investigations if suspected criminal offenses are found while he is still a member of an armed separatist group which has now been labeled a terrorist by the government.
"I want to return to Mother Earth. We accept the love of the Indonesian motherland," said Ramadan.
"But first look, suddenly he has committed a criminal act, he is one of the groups. Of course he will not abort his criminal sentence," he added.
Previously, there were three KKB members who surrendered. They were YAW (34), MM (17), and OM (41) and surrendered to the TNI personnel of the Battalion Task Force 715 / Mtl who were patrolling Kampung Tanah Merah, Saturday.
