Nicholas Youwe: I emphasize, Veronica Koman, you don't have the right to talk about the Papua issue

I emphasize, especially for Veronica Koman, who always provokes her from her flight in Australia, you have absolutely no right to talk about the Papua issue. You, Veronica Koman, are not Papuan. You are nothing more than a provocateur.

This was conveyed by Nicholas Youwe, a former senior figure founder of the OPM (Free Papua Organization), during the webinar "Understanding Papua, and Collaborative & Holistic Resolution Efforts", in Jakarta, organized by the Indonesia Public Institute (IPI), Thursday (6 / 5/2021).

Present at the webinar were a number of activists at home and abroad, Papuan leaders, including the former OPM Foreign Minister for 15 years Nicholas Youwe who has declared loyalty in the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI) with Nick Messet since 2010.

Acting as resource persons in this webinar were, Bobby Aditya Rizaldi, member of Commission I DPR RI, Dr. Muhammad AS Hikam MA (President University political observer), Commissioner General of Police Paulus Waterpauw (Head of the Indonesian Police Intelligence and Security Agency), Dr. Jaleswari Pramodawardhani (Deputy V for Politics, Law, Defense, Security and Human Rights, Presidential Staff Office) and Billy Mambrasar (Special Staff for the President).

Nicholas Youwe said, under current conditions there is no longer any doubt from the Government of the Republic of Indonesia in developing Papua. Therefore, various parties, acting as provoking the community, have to stop their activities. "You're just looking to profit from this mess," he stressed.

"I hope you, Veronica Koman, do not interfere in Papua's affairs anymore, you are a cowardly provocateur hiding abroad," said Nicholas.

Veronica Koman became known after a demonstration in Papua which was sparked by a racist incident in Surabaya, on 4 September 2019. Veronica Koman was named a suspect for being accused of incitement and provocation through social media, currently on her flight in Australia.

According to Nicholas Youwe, there are still criminal groups in Papua, but their existence is getting weaker, namely the Free Papua Organization (OPM) is spread across four factions, namely the West Papua National Committee (KNPB) whose president is Victor Yeimo.

Then, the United Liberation Movement for West Papua (ULMWP) with president Benny Wenda, OPM West Papua National Liberation Army (OPM-TPNPB) led by Jeffrey Bolmanak and the Federal State Group of the Republic of West Papua (NFRPB) whose president is Forkorus Yaboisembut.

"Now with the cultural anthropology approach carried out by the Central Government in Jakarta, the empowerment of indigenous peoples and the rights of indigenous peoples in Papua must be a concern. Papuans must immediately rise from adversity," concluded Nicholas Youwe.
