The PUPR Ministry Continues to Realize Infrastructure Development in 2 Papua Provinces

 

The government through the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) continues to be committed to realizing reliable infrastructure development in Papua and West Papua Provinces. This is aimed at reducing the high poverty rate, reducing the costly index, and equitable infrastructure development.

To support this, the Ministry of PUPR is taking breakthrough steps in infrastructure development that are more integrated, precise, focused, and in synergy with ministries / agencies (K / L) and local governments (pemda).

"This is in accordance with the mandate of Presidential Instruction Number 9 of 2020," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono, quoted from the website of the Ministry of PUPR, Saturday (03/04/2021).

Minister Basuki said that in order to create a reliable infrastructure as well as answer the challenges faced in Papua and West Papua Provinces, the PUPR Ministry is committed to carrying out four programs.

First, equitable development to improve people's welfare. Second, affirmative support for improving the human resources (HR) of the Papuan people. Third, the implementation of the Cash Work Intensive Program (PKT). Fourth, fulfillment of basic needs and services with the support of PUPR infrastructure.

"Increasing the welfare of the Papuan people is carried out by opening up isolated areas and increasing access and connectivity from land and multimodal modes. Among them we have built 3,534 kilometers of Trans Papua Road, 1,098 kilometers of Papua Border Road, and 1.3 kilometers of Youtefa Bridge, ”said Basuki.

Furthermore, to support human resource capacity development, the Ministry of PUPR conducts human resource training in construction services involving indigenous Papuan and West Papuan partners. In addition, the PUPR Ministry also empowers local business actors with limited tenders for self-estimated construction work packages (HPS) of between Rp1 - 2.5 billion.

Meanwhile, the development of internal human resources of the Ministry of PUPR in technical centers in Papua and West Papua has been filled by native sons as Head of Balai, Head of Satker, and PPK.

The third program is the implementation of the PKT to distribute income for the Papuan people in the context of the National Economic Recovery (PEN) due to the Covid-19 Pandemic.

In 2021 there will be an increase in the PKT budget from the previous year, from Rp.671 billion to Rp.731 billion. This budget is used for 19 activities that will absorb 27,967 workers.

The fourth program is the fulfillment of basic needs and services with the support of infrastructure in the PUPR sector, including the construction of an Integrated Cross-border Post (PLBN) in Skouw (Jayapura) and Sota (Merauke), infrastructure development to support the implementation of the XX National Sports Week (PON) and the construction of special houses. , clean water, environmental roads, and suspension bridges in the districts of Asmat, Mappi, and Mamberamo Raya.

Overall, in 2021 the budget allocation for PUPR infrastructure development for Papua Province is IDR6.12 trillion for Water Resources (SDA) IDR 670 billion, roads and bridges IDR 4.46 trillion, IDR650 billion housing, and IDR330 billion housing.

Meanwhile, in West Papua Province Rp.3.67 trillion, the budget allocation for SDA is Rp. 600 billion, roads and bridges Rp. 2.54 trillion, housing Rp. 320 billion, and housing Rp. 200 billion.

The PUPR Ministry hopes that with this continuous commitment, it can contribute to providing real solutions and contributions in responding to challenges and advancing the Papuan people.
