The Riau Taekwondo Indonesia (TI) Provincial Board is targeting two gold medals at the 2021 National Sports Week (PON) in Papua. To smooth this target, one of the athletes is currently undergoing a national training camp (Pelatnas).
Head of Riau TI Province, Amran Tambi said, the chances of a gold medal are quite balanced in the male and female categories. However, opportunities are very open through Ibrahim Zarman who is also trusted in the National Team squad.
"Currently, Ibrahim Zarman is undergoing the National Training Program in preparation for the Pre-Qualification Olympics Championship in Aman, Jordan. Ibrahim was selected along with three other athletes, namely Mariska Halinda (Kaltim), M Bassam Raihan (DKI Jakarta) and Adam Yazid F (West Java)," said Tambi. .
Tambi said, the Asian Zone Olympic Pre-Qualification Championship in Aman, Jordan, will be held on March 26-27. This event is the best place to hone Ibrahim Zarman's skills ahead of his preparations for joining PON in Papua in October.
"We hope that Ibrahim can really perform at Aman in March. Because this will affect psychologically, moreover he will also participate in PON too," he added.
Apart from Ibrahim Zarman who often enters the National Pelatnas for international championships, other athletes Galuh Kogas Prakarsa also have the opportunity to win a gold medal. Moreover, at the 2016 PON in West Java, Ibrahim contributed a gold medal to Riau.
