Papua and Indonesia are inseparable

DEMONSTRATION rejects racist actions against Papuan students as indicated by separatist groups being used to demand separation from Indonesia. However, seen from various aspects, the separation of Papua from the Republic of Indonesia cannot be done.

The effect of disintegration now continues to be a major concern of the TNI and Polri. His party always monitors developments in border areas including Papua at this time. The government has also emphasized that Papua is an inseparable part of our beloved country, Indonesia. This should be understood by all parties, including overseas.

The long history of Papua's return to this beloved country is also arguably not smooth, there have been many obstacles and failures that have accompanied the government's efforts to repossess its territory. Moreover, the situation heated up again the other day due to the issue of racism.

So it is hoped that all parties will avoid any propaganda and provocation such as events that ended in chaos like the other day. The TNI and Polri are always committed to maintaining every inch of the legal territory of Papua as an integral part of the Republic of Indonesia. Based on this, the TNI and Polri will act decisively in facing anything that threatens the sovereignty and integrity of the Republic of Indonesia.

Previously, during SBY's administration, there were many issues of interference from other countries such as Australia. This seems to have made the President speak up. SBY emphasized that Indonesia took full responsibility for managing Papua.

He stated that the policies regarding the management of Papua had changed and were clear. Indonesia prioritizes justice, democracy and people's welfare. Which is considered the best for the Papua regional approach. One clear example is the development per capita in all of Indonesia, which is the highest for Papua.

SBY also admitted that up to now Papua there are still structural problems as well as local problems that must be fixed. Therefore, the SBY administration firmly asks Australia to respect Indonesia's sovereignty.

Other strong evidence if the government gives serious attention and recognizes Papua as an integral part of the archipelago is: The official statement of the Pepera (Determination of People's Opinions) May 1, 1969, namely that the World and the United Nations officially recognize Papua as part of the Republic of Indonesia. This is also said by one of the perpetrators of the history of Pepera, Ramses Ohee. He also emphasized that Papua has legally returned to Mother Earth through the Act.

Previously, the former member of the Jayapura Regency DPRD in the 1990s explained that at that time the Dutch did not want to let go of Papua (formerly West Irian). So that the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Subandrio, in the UN session stated that all Dutch colonies must be submitted to the Republic of Indonesia. This is what was the beginning of the story until Papua was decided again to become part of the Republic of Indonesia.

Support for Papua has also been given to this Jokowi-era government. A lot of funds have been disbursed to achieve equitable distribution of welfare and development in the Earth of Cendrawasih. Not only that, it was revealed that the funds earmarked for Papua were greater than other provinces. This is proof that the Republic of Indonesia gives full attention to the area.

If the other day there was a riot that resulted in demands for Papuan independence, it would only be the act of irresponsible individuals. These elements only complement the issue of racism for personal or group interests. Therefore, the government continues to warn all Indonesian citizens, especially Papuans, not to be provoked by any news.

Moreover, it is suspected that there are groups who want to question the legality of Papua as part of the Republic of Indonesia. Which often acts and results in anarchist actions and harms many parties. Of course this should be a serious concern for all elements of Indonesian society, right?

The issue of racism often has a big impact, its implications for the unity and sovereignty of the country. Racism that leads to separatist actions will only create losses for all parties. However, we can be calm because conditions in Papua are safe and conducive. The inhabitants of this Cendrawasih earth have also been doing their normal activities as usual.
