The Sports and Youth Service or Disorda of Papua Province guarantees that the Provincial Training Center athletes or the Papua National Sports Week Training Center will be able to try out the PON arena. This was conveyed by the Acting Head of Disorda Papua, Alexander Kapisa some time ago.
Kapisa stated that currently his party was boosting the completion of the verification and administration process for the XX Papua National Sports Week (PON) arena. After the verification and administration process is complete, the PON XX Papua arena will soon be handed over to the Papua Provincial Government (Pemprov).
"When the venues have been handed over to the local government, and we are also [done] conducting administrative verification and physical verification of the venue building, we can provide recommendations for use by Papuan athletes," explained Kapisa when contacted by Jubi some time ago.
According to him, there are four PON arenas that were built at the expense of the State Budget and will soon be handed over to the Papua Provincial Government. The four PON arenas are the aquatic stadium, Istora Papua Bangkit, cricket arena, and hockey arena.
The plan is for the four PON venues to be handed over to the Papua Provincial Government in February 2021. Until now, Disorda Papua is still waiting for the administrative process for the handover from the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR).
"So, the handover of the results of the physical work for the four venues is scheduled for early February. Currently, the local government is in a position to await follow-up from the PUPR Ministry to take administrative steps in relation to asset handover. Of course it requires joint administrative processes and steps, "said Kapisa.
Previously, the General Secretary of KONI Papua, Kenius Kogoya, hoped that the Papua Provincial Disorda could give the green light to his party regarding the use of the venue to finalize the preparation of Puslatprov Papua athletes. This is considered important so that athletes can adapt to the new venue.
"We have prepared a lot of things for PON XX. Our preparation must be more solid, including the use of venues for athletes. Don't get close to PON, you can't test it yet. We hope that Disorda can provide convenience, so that our athletes can use the venue as soon as possible, "said Kenius.
